Our Story
Since inception Key Knife’s innovative disposable knife systems and maintenance programs helped sawmills, planer mills, pulp mills, and particleboard plants around the world to improve recovery, production, quality, and operating efficiencies.
In 2005 Bob and Tom started the process of selling the company to the employees that helped bring their vision to reality. By 2010 Key Knife was 100% employee owned and thriving.
Key Knife products are manufactured, and quality controlled solely by employees in Tualatin, Oregon. All products are sold, installed, and serviced by a highly skilled and experienced team of account managers. In North American alone, over 50 billion board feet of lumber and over 70 million tons of chips are produced each year with Key Knife chipping systems.
In 2024 Kadant Inc. (NYSE: KAI), a global supplier of high-value, critical components for process industries, acquired Key Knife, Inc.
